MORBARK AND THE COMMUNITY

Morbark and its employees reach out to the local community in many ways. Through the years the company has contributed to a number of different programs. Below is a list of recent programs Morbark has helped.

Morbark HealthSteps Program Helps the Red Cross Food Pantry
Members of Morbark's internal health program, HealthSteps, participated in the “Maintain/Don’t Gain” program to help them with weight management over the holidays.  Each participant pledged food items per week for the duration of the program to maintain their weight.  If they gained weight for any week they had to double their donation for that week. HealthSteps director, Tim Wentworth, donated one item for every five collected. At the conclusion of the program, 245 pounds of food was netted and donated to the Red Cross Food Pantry.

Toys for Tots
Christmas always brings out the best in people. The Toys for Tots program is so popular that the toy barrels have to be emptied several times during the month span they are located at the Morbark factory.

United Way Campaign
The month of November kicks off the annual United Way campaign encouraging employees to make a monetary donation towards a charity of their choice. The company matches half of what the employees contribute making for a very successful campaign. Thanks to the generosity of the workers Morbark has always reached its goal and in the past 10 years has exceeded the goal.

Caravan of Care
Morbark employees also participated in helping to fight hunger by collecting food items that benefitted several local charities - the Isabella County Red Cross Food Pantry, the Isabella Community Soup Kitchen and the Salvation Army.

Troop Sponsorship
Several times Morbark has sponsored the 980th Quartermaster Company, an army reserve unit based out of Bay City, Michigan. The 980th is a unique support unit trained to provide supplies, transport gasoline, and purify water. For the duration of their tour of duty, Morbark employees donated items to these men and women. In addition, Morbark paid for the postage to ship the packages to the soldiers. What did the troops think about this? “I want everyone there to know that it is people like them that make the U.S. the greatest country on earth,” wrote the 980th. “You are also the reason we are proud to serve our great nation. Thank you."

Le Tour de Mont Pleasant
Morbark helped sponsor the first Le Tour de Mont Pleasant bike race in 2009. The race included a 105-mile professional race as well as an amateur and a criterium race.
